The new material carbon fiber, known as "black gold", has been monopolized by the United States and Japan for nearly 40 years, but now the situation has been completely rewritten by China.
After more than 20 years of efforts, the first 48K large tow carbon fiber production line independently developed by China was successfully put into production in Shanghai Petrochemical, announcing that China has broken through the "high-end carbon fiber mass production technology".
As one of the important industries of Sinopec, large bundle carbon fibers have relied heavily on foreign brands in the procurement of low-voltage distribution components for major projects in the past.
In recent years, with the support of a series of powerful country strategies such as "Made in China 2025" proposed by the state, the competitiveness of domestic power distribution products in the high-end market has continued to improve, and the market share has increased significantly.

A New Chapter in High End Substitution
At the end of 2019, Changshu Switch was the first domestic brand to obtain the A-level product quality certification of Sinopec Yipaike Material Procurement Platform, marking a new chapter in high-end substitution in the petrochemical industry.

In June 2020, Changkai products were shortlisted as the first domestic brand for a complete set of domestic independent brand components and low-voltage switchgear. Later, the owner of the project, Shanghai Petrochemical, through the in-depth investigation of Changkai Digital Chemical Plant, saw the quality control in the whole production process of the products, and changed its inherent view of the backward technology and unstable quality of domestic brands.
In November 2021, through public bidding, Changshu switch products were successfully awarded the bid due to their excellent functionality and reliability.
In October 2022, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical 48K large tow carbon fiber project was put into operation, and qualified carbon fiber was successfully produced.
Project Challenges
The project faces various challenges during implementation. Firstly, the 690V system requires a high performance indicator of 50kA breaking, and the low-voltage circuit breaker is required to have high performance. Secondly, the factory environment is complex, with harmonics far exceeding international standards, requiring high corrosion resistance of components. Finally, the supply cycle is tight and delivery needs to be completed within the specified date.

The normally open CW/CM series circuit breakers adopt advanced design and manufacturing processes, which have excellent breaking performance and overload protection capabilities. The universal circuit breaker has a maximum breaking index of 125kA for 690V systems, and the molded case circuit breaker has a maximum breaking index of 80kA for 690V systems, ensuring stable operation of the power system under various working conditions.

Changkai products have undergone strict quality control and testing, and their reliability has been fully verified. The testing standards are higher than the national standards, such as electromagnetic compatibility testing, which is higher than the national standards. The testing items are more than the national standards, thus fully ensuring the requirements of harmonic resistance. All electronic circuit boards of components are coated with a double layer of three layer anti rust paint to ensure corrosion resistance and are not afraid of any harsh environment.

Changshu Switch closely revolves around management informatization, design digitization, and manufacturing intelligence in terms of technology, aiming to reduce pollution, reduce energy consumption, and improve production efficiency. With the above technology and quality assurance, Changkai successfully provided CW series universal circuit breakers, CM series molded case circuit breakers, CK3 contactors, CH3 series miniature circuit breakers, CA series automatic transfer switches and other products for Shanghai Petrochemical's large bundle carbon fiber project for workshop power distribution and carbon fiber assembly line production. The smooth operation of these products has provided key guarantees for the successful start-up of the project and the production of qualified carbon fibers.
